Paddlefest Races
Location
Both the 14 Mile Pro Race and the 9 Mile Amateur Race will begin at the concrete boat ramp at Coney Island. The Pro Race will begin Lemans style with racers starting on land and running with their canoes and kayaks into the Ohio. The Amateur Race contestants will begin by class in the Ohio.

9 Mile Amateur Race - races start at 7:40 a.m. in the water
Rules
All racers must have a Coast Guard Approved PFD for each person in the craft during the entire race and this must be easily accessible; one whistle per craft. The race director may require that PFDs be worn during the entire race. All non-swimming competitors must wear a PFD during the entire race. All paddlers under 15 years of age must wear a PFD during the entire race.
All competitors who quit the race for any reason before the finish line must report to the race director at the finish line as soon as possible.
Paddles: Any number of single blade paddles of any material and size may be in the canoe. A competitor may use only one paddle at a time. Any number of double bladed paddles may be used in kayak class or unlimited K1 class.

MANDATORY MEETING AT 7AM FOR ALL RACERS!Professional (14 Miles)
Sanctioned by the U.S. Canoe Association, this 14 Mile Pro Race is the only professional canoe race in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana and the only one on the entire Ohio River. It will begin at 7:30 a.m. after a mandatory racer orientation meeting at 7:00am. (look for signs to racer's meeting). Prize money (totaling $3,500) will be awarded to the top finishing teams based on the number of finishers per class. Classes include Men, Women and Mixed C-2 and Unlimited K-1. Winning C-2 racers finished in just under 2 hours in 2006.

The Midwest's Biggest Day of Canoe and Kayak Racing
Compete in Two Great Races on Two Great Rivers in Two Great States on the same day, June 27, 2009. Race on the Ohio at Paddlefest in Cincinnati, in either the 14 mile pro or 9 mile amateur race starting at 7:30 a.m. Then race on Indiana's Whitewater in a 8.4 mile run with dam-release starting at 1:00 p.m. just 44 miles from the Paddlefest finish line. Two kinds of Races. Two kinds of Rivers. Two great events. The Midwest's biggest day of canoe and kayak racing on Saturday, June 27 in the metro-Cincinnati area.
Paddlefest and Canoefest are separate events, with separate registrations, but together we offer you the ultimate racing experience. Don't drive hundreds of miles for a paddling race, drive hundreds of miles for 2 paddling races!
